As many authors suggest, Central European economies could benefit from so-called ‘shale boom’ in United States, supplying themselves with low-cost natural gas extracted from unconventional deposits in Northern America. This paper describes trade relations of a very similar product – a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), using Central American countries as an example, showing that increase in supply of this energetic commodity did not affect its prices significantly.

Według wielu autorów, gospodarki krajów Europy Środkowej mogłyby skorzystać na zmianach, związanych z tzw. boomem łupkowym w Stanach Zjednoczonych poprzez zakupy tańszego gazu ziemnego, pochodzącego ze złóż niekonwencjonalnych Ameryki Północnej. W niniejszej pracy opisano relacje handlowe odnoszące się do podobnego surowca – gazu LPG, wykorzystując kraje Ameryki Środkowej jako przykład pokazujący, że wzrost podaży tego surowca energetycznego nie miał znaczącego wpływu na jego cenę.
