Abstrakty

The progressive decline of fossil resources, together with the ongoing increases in oil prices, and the concerns regarding environmental sustainability, has promoted the search for alternatives based on renewable resource monomers for the production of novel polymers able to substitute their petroleum-based counterparts. Among existing bio-resources, fatty acids are valuable precursor of monomers not only due to their low toxicity, easy availability and relatively low price but also, because they present carbon-carbon double bonds and carboxylic groups as reaction sites that allow the easy incorporation of different functional groups.
