EN

This article presents the economic and social transformations in the Netherlands from the end of the 17th century, to the beginning of the 20th century and the impact of those transformations on the development of housing in the country. Special emphasis is put on describing characteristics of the inner city residential housing, as well as the suburbian one, especially the one built during the high-point of the speculative movements within architecture. Moreover, the matter of availability of housing for the working class is considered.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawione zostały przemiany ekonomiczne i społeczne w Holandii od końca XVII stulecia do początku XX i ich wpływ na rozwój mieszkalnictwa w tym kraju. Starano się przy tym określić cechy miejskiej zabudowy mieszkaniowej w tym okresie oraz podmiejskiej, a w szczególności tej wznoszonej w okresie natężenia działań spekulacyjnych w budownictwie. Poruszona została również kwestia dostępności mieszkań dla ludności najniżej uposażonej.
