The article deals with the program of Organic Airborne Mine Countermeasures (OAMCM) currently implemented by the US Navy. The ways of fighting against the mine threats managed by multitask MH-60S Seahawk helicopters are presented. The article also discusses the use of modern optoelectronic techniques and technologies and the minesweeping systems of a new generation. The MH-60S Seahawk is an integral part of the contemporary naval operations system. It facilitates the task groups to avoid the areas covered with sea mines on one hand, and the neutralisation of dangerous sea objects on the other. Such activities are possible to undertake while not influencing the necessary speed of ships or task forces in the main area of operation. The relative distance between the helicopter and sea mine diminishes the risks related to the accomplishment of the tasks and assures the safety for the crew and system operators.
