W artykule omówiono wpływ kluczowych przedsięwzięć urbanistycznych i wybranych dzieł architektury na rozwój śródmieść Kolonii, Monachium i Stuttgartu. Wyróżniono 5 typów sytuacji projektowych, nadając im nazwy: „domena kultury, nauki i sztuki”, „architektura w krajobrazie parkowym”, „symbole przedsiębiorczości”, „strategiczne węzły przy dworcach kolejowych” i „przebudowa nadbrzeży rzecznych”. Tekst pomyślany jest jako pierwszy z autorskiego cyklu poświęconego śródmiejskiej formie urbanistycznej w niemieckich metropoliach analizowanej z perspektywy strategii urbanistycznych i ich konsekwencji strukturalnych.

Using cases of projects regarded as key elements of urban development strategies in Cologne, Munich and Stuttgart, the author discusses the impact of “flagship” architectural projects and urban design on development of the inner city structure. Five types of design situations have been marked off. They are labelled as: “domain of culture, science and contemporary art”, architecture in landscape park”, “symbols of entrepreneurship”, “strategic nodes in close-to-station areas” and “riverfront redevelopment”. Texts is conceived as the first from the series of the author’s articles devoted to the form of the inner city in German metropolises analysed from the perspective of urban strategies and their structural consequences.
