W artykule przestawiono działania Kopalni Soli „Wieliczka” S.A. zmierzające do rozwoju lecznictwa uzdrowiskowego w oparciu o wody solankowe, dopływające w sposób naturalny do podziemnych wyrobisk kopalni. Działania te zakończyły się uzyskaniem koncesji na wydobywanie wody leczniczej, co pozwala na intensywny rozwój aerozoloterapii jako ważnego aspektu działalności leczniczej, prowadzonej w Uzdrowisku Kopalnia Soli „Wieliczka”.

The article presents the operations of the ”Wieliczka” Salt Mine, geared towards the development of brine-based spa treatment using the water inflowing naturally into the underground mine excavations. The certificates issued on 30th December 2013 confirmed the healing properties of the brine, and then the concession of 30th October 2015 allowed for the exploitation of medicinal waters from the W-VII-16 outflow. This broadened the scope of health services provided by the „Wieliczka” Salt Mine Health Resort. The therapeutic activity of the Health Resort is based on natural medicinal resources: microclimate of the underground salt chambers, and now also natural brine. Currently, the ‘Wieliczka’ Salt Mine Health Resort carries out individual inhalations with 1 or 2% Wieliczka brine (depending on the medical indication) administered as an aerosol i.e. particles of mineral water distributed in a gaseous medium (air). In December 2014 a brine graduation tower was opened in order to extend spa treatment. It is constructed of larch wood and blackthorn twigs, with a total capacity of 7600 m3. The graduation tower was designed as an open-air inhalatorium. Brine from the W-VII-16 outflow is used to produce aerosol at the graduation tower. The property has been integrated into the Wieliczka skyline and located on the edge of the park between the Daniłowicz and St Kinga shafts.
