Więzi gospodarcze i polityczne budowane pomiędzy nową i starą Europą, stopniowo zmieniają dotychczasowe wzajemne relacje w tym także relacje kulturowe. Dotychczasowa nieufność, a czasem nawet niechęć panująca między krajami sąsiedzkimi stopniowo ustępuje transgranicznej współpracy handlowej i współpracy administracyjno-kulturalnej. Owocuje to m.in. zwiększonym ruchem turystycznym, odwołującym się w swej ofercie do zróżnicowania kulturowego poszczególnych regionów geograficznych, gospodarczych i kulturowych. Zróżnicowanie do dotyczy zarówno budownictwa świeckiego, jak i budownictwa sakralnego. Wielkim problemem i wyzwaniem jest dziś zachowanie (poza skansenami) innych, istniejących jeszcze in situ, wartościowych obiektów budownictwa drewnianego w poszczególnych gminach i powiatach. Konieczna tu jest m.in. wzajemna pomoc sąsiedzka, zwalczanie istniejących jeszcze stereotypów myślowych - tak, by jedność wspólnych interesów (np. turystycznych), pozwoliła na zachowanie zastanych historycznych wartości i odrębności.

A great problem and a challenge is today the maintenance besides Skansen museums) other, existing "in situ", valuable objects of the wooden building in each communes and administrative districts. Necessary is here among other things the mutual "neighbourly help", the liquidation still existing mental stereotypes - so that the community of interest (for example tourist), make possible the maintenance of existing, historic and kultural separatenesses.
