The article presents the construction and the rules of operation of 3D printers. The most energy-consuming elements of the printer were presented and their parameters were determined. Key input data essential to configure the software of the controller ensuring correct operation of the equipment were presented. Various types of software used for editing and update of firmware in the printer’s controller were presented. Procedures used for 3D objects and their conversion into instructions comprehensible for the printer’s controller were presented along with the calibration process of the equipment in order to ensure high printing quality.
