Abstrakty

The article presents a short historical outline of the navigation development on land and its classification based on criteria has been shown. In the further part of the publication the authors concentrated on land navigation in military use. The successive stages if this equipment development has been presented focusing on its general rules of actions. The requirements established for modem navigation equipment have been touched on and its tasks to carry out have been discussed. Then the navigation equipment installed in the Polish armed forces mechanised vehicles has been presented. In the final part of the publication, a comparative analysis of currently used navigation equipment has been made taking into account the cost and the possibilities of reliable work at exterior disturbances. The future directions of this kind of equipment and systems have been established.
