This article provides basic information about matrices and operations on them. It allows students to get acquainted with the material required for the basic linear algebra course in a comprehensible way. Rather than focusing on providing formal definitions and theorems the emphasis is on understanding the subject matter and the ability to perform key matrix operations. Hence the theory presented is illustrated with many examples.
