EN

Proper investigation of railway accidents is necessary for ensuring high level of safety in railway transport. In order to facilitate information flow on investigation results between Member States of the European Union, a database ERAIL (European Railway Accident Information Links) has been established. This database has been presented in this paper. At the beginning, the most important definitions has been summarised and the description of performing and documenting railway accident investigation according to the Railway Safety Directive (2004/49/EC) has been provided. After that there is a characterisation of data related to railway accidents which can be found in the ERAIL database. The way of interaction with the database has been shortly presented and evaluated, sample search results are also given. There is a set of conclusions at the end of the paper.

Badanie przyczyn wypadków kolejowych ma duże znaczenie dla zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa transportu kolejowego. W celu ułatwienia przepływu informacji o ustaleniach komisji wypadkowych między państwami członkowskimi Unii Europejskiej opracowano bazę danych ERAIL (European Railway Accident Information Links). Baza ta została zaprezentowana w niniejszym artykule. Na początku przytoczono najważniejsze definicje i omówiono sposób prowadzenia i dokumentowania dochodzeń zgodnie z dyrektywą 2004/49/WE w sprawie bezpieczeństwa kolei. W dalszej kolejności scharakteryzowano typy informacji związanych z wypadkami, które można znaleźć w opisywanej bazie danych. Następnie przedstawiono sposób interakcji z bazą danych ERAIL i dokonano jego oceny oraz podano wyniki kilku przykładowych kwerend. Artykuł zakończono sformułowaniem wniosków.
