Abstrakty

EN

The article presents the definition of the internal security and the relations between internal, public and national security. The issue to provide internal security becomes the main aim of any democratic state, which is clearly showing, especially in the context of terrorist attacks that contemporary democracies face. In order to meet this tendency, states are looking for new methods to combat threats. Therefore, countries, especially in the Mediterranean region, develop an international cooperation of gendarmeries formations. This cooperation concentrates in the institutionalised form in the Association of the European and Mediterranean Police Forces and Gendarmeries with Military Status (FIEP), European Gendarmeries Forces (EURIGENDERFOR) and Centre of Excellence for the Stability Police Units (CoESPU).
