Conservation materials on the base of synthetic oils for protection of steel against atmospheric corrosion

Protective efficiency of the compositions on the base of fresh and waste synthetic oil Mobile-1 has been studied with respect to St3 carbon steel. The oils were thickened by additives of emulgin (5%). Corrosion tests of steel samples covered by oil compositions films were carried out in 0.5 IVI NaCl solution. Thickness of the protective films is equal to 20-30 pm. Cathodic and anodic processes proceeding on the steel surface under thin oil films have been studied. The moisture permeability of thin synthetic oil films and their viscosity-temperature characteristics were investigated. Emulsifiability of the protective compositions has been studied.
