The article provides an expert assessment of electricity production volume in highly efficient cogeneration under the process of modernization of the utility industry. The calculations are based on a database of 116 heat plants, the capacities of which range between ≤ 50 and 300 MW and around 100 PJ per annum. The results thus calculated also take into account the impact of fuel diversification in the context of protecting and improving air quality, capital expenditures and expected electricity generation costs.
