Artykuł stanowi pierwszą część opracowania dotyczącego problemów związanych z rozbiórką starzejących się zapór i progów wodnych. Część pierwsza jest poświęcona genezie, historii oraz metodom rozbiórki zapór, na podstawie przeglądu literatury światowej.

The article is the first part of the study regarding the problems related to dismantling of the ageing dams and barrages. The first part is devoted to the genesis, history and methods of dams demolition, based on the review of global literature.
