Abstrakty
Work engagement is imperative in elevating employee effectiveness and performance, particularly in organizations undergoing career transitions. This study aims to investigate how job resources (JS) and public service motivation (PSM) can enhance work engagement (WE). Employing a sample of 283 mid-level officials from government offices in Bali Province, data were collected through interviews and surveys aided by a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, while hypothesis testing was conducted through path analysis using SPSS software. This study provides valuable insights for public organizations in enhancing WE. The findings indicate that JR can enhance WE through PSM. Furthermore, the study reveals the role of PSM as a significant mediator in the linkage between JR and WE. This current study provides salient implications for the role of JR and PSM in improving WE and demonstrates that PSM can be more accurate in predicting WE. This finding provides valuable insight into how an individual’s internal motivation to serve the public interest and society substantially influences WE. Accordingly, this study enriches the self-determination theory in the human resource management literature and offers valuable implications for policy management in public organizations.
