The contemporary tenement house and its role in the structure of the city

Abstrakty

EN

A residential building is an independent object within the structure of a city and, at the same time, a basic element that creates public space. It encloses privacy in its interior and co-creates a common space. The modern city responds to social and environmental changes by experimenting with new typologies. In residential buildings, in turn, all the relevant features of architecture are manifested. At the junction of the city and the tenement house, we will look for spatial and architectural solutions that illustrate the development of habitation patterns very well. In the article, we will discuss how new social models, such as cohousing, can affect contemporary and future housing construction. Against the background of historical typologies, we will conduct case studies of contemporary tenement houses, taking into account their interaction with the city in spatial, functional and social terms.
