Od kilku lat można zaobserwować zmianę w dyskursie o zjawiskach tradycyjnie określanych jako niezidentyfikowane obiekty latające (UFO). Z domeny sensacyjnej i właściwej dla teorii spiskowych stają się one przedmiotem publicznie prezentowanych badań oraz analiz poważnych instytucji, także wojskowych i związanych z bezpieczeństwem narodowym. Aby uniknąć tradycyjnych skojarzeń z UFO, wprowadzono dla nich nowe określenie - niezidentyfikowane zjawiska powietrzne (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena - UAP). W artykule podjęto próbę rekonstrukcji sekurytyzacji zjawisk typu UAP, czyli procesu komunikacyjno- politycznego, w wyniku którego uznano, że UAP zagrażają bezpieczeństwu narodowemu Stanów Zjednoczonych. W tym celu przeprowadzono jakościową analizę danych zastanych w postaci dokumentów urzędowych oraz wypowiedzi podmiotów zaangażowanych w analizowany proces sekurytyzacji zjawisk typu UAP.

Over the past few years, there has been a noticeable shift in the discourse surrounding phenomena traditionally referred to as unidentified flying objects (UFOs). These topics, once associated with sensationalism and conspiracy theories, are now the subject of publicly presented research and analyses by reputable institutions, including military and national security organizations. To avoid the traditional connotations associated with UFOs, a new term has been introduced: unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). This article attempts to reconstruct the securitization of UAPs, a communicative and political process through which UAPs have come to be recognized as a threat to the national security of the United States. To achieve this, a qualitative analysis was conducted using existing data in the form of official documents and statements from entities involved in the analysed securitization process of UAPs.
