Abstrakty
Over the course of recent years IRIS was actively involved in a large number of CO2 studies. The projects were carried out both for Norwegian Continental Shelf as well as main land Europe and Russia. Our involvement in such projects included geological and reservoir modeling, laboratory study, evaluation of actual injection strategy, project and pilot preparation. This presentation would give a short overview of various CO2 activities carried out, methods and strategies developed and lessons learned. Three key projects would be discussed: 1) laboratory and simulation study of foam application during CO2 injection; 2) CO2 EOR evaluation in sandstone and carbonate reservoirs; 3) geological and reservoir modeling for CCS project. Finally the lessons learned are to be presented. Ideas and approaches to pressure (stress) dependent reservoir behavior, injectivity, geochemical reactions and technological constraints are to be presented. Current research and develop- ment activities including open source software development, multi-scale and reservoir simulation approaches are going to be outlined. It should also be pointed out that these ideas could be applied to much larger scope of tasks than CO2 injection.
