Calibration and gain adjustment in an eye movement measurement system

A calibration technique for the Ober2 eye movement measurement system is presented. First, a short introduction to the principles of system operation is presented. Then, problems connected with obtaining signal in standard units are pointed out. The calibration method used is based on an additional, preliminary calibration measurement, which is used to obtain the desired parameters. In order to decrease the influence of measurement errors and certain human generated phenomena the Last Squares method is used. The crosscorrelation technique is used to estimate the delay of the eye response to a visual stimulus. Some calibration results are shown. Advantages and drawbacks of the presented method are discussed. It is pointed out, that parameters obtained with the calibration procedure can be used to adjust the gains of the instrument, which significantly affect the quality of output signals.
