Abstrakty
Background: In today's turbulent international business landscape, enhancing supply chain resilience (SCRES) is one of the key success factors for businesses and the supply chain. The practitioners and academic researchers have paid significant attention to investigating determinants of SCRES. This research empirically evaluates human capital’s (HC) influence on SCRES. It also examines the mediating function of dynamic capabilities-supply chain collaboration (SCC), flexibility (FLEX), and logistics capability (LCAP)-addressing a quantitative research gap in operations management literature. Methods: Grounded in the Resource-Based View (RBV), this research used a quantitative survey methodology. Data were collected via structured questionnaires from 368 managers in Vietnamese enterprises and then analyzed using SmartPLS 4. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) facilitated hypothesis testing and model evaluation, including mediation effects. Results: Empirical results confirm HC positively influences LCAP, SCC, and FLEX, which in turn significantly enhance SCRES. SCC exhibited the most substantial mediating effect (partial mediation; VAF=55%) on the HC-SCRES relationship, surpassing LCAP and FLEX (partial mediation; VAF ≈ 16-17%). The model explained 55.9% of the variance in SCRES. Conclusions: This research empirically validates HC’s instrumental role in cultivating supply chain resilience, augmenting RBV’s applicability. It quantifies the mediating influences of dynamic capabilities, underscoring SCC’s significance. Practically, it offers managers evidence for strategic human resource investment and collaborative relationship cultivation to strengthen organizational resilience against disruptions. The study proposed recommendations to practitioners to not only focus on Industry 4.0 technologies but also prioritize investments in human capital and supply chain management practices in the digital era and VUCA world.
