PL

Propagowanie policentryzmu stało się kamieniem milowym w polityce planowania miast i regionów, dlatego też badania w tym zakresie stanowią istotny element współczesnych programów naukowych. W niniejszym artykule staramy się dociec, w jakim stopniu policentryzm wzmógł się w głównych metropolitalnych obszarach H iszpanii na przestrzeni ostatnich piętnastu lat. Wykorzystujemy w nim modele parametryczne, które pomogą nam analizować zarówno wpływ subcentrów na rozmieszczenie ludności w określonym czasie, jak i zmiany odsetka liczby ludności w subcentrach. Wyniki badań wskazują na to, iż terytoria o charakterze nie-centralnym/subcentralnym znacząco zwiększają swój udział w koncentracji liczby ludności. Subcentra oraz ich pierwszy pas również zwiększają swój udział, jednak w umiarkowanym stopniu. Ogólnie rzecz ujmując, niekontrolowany rozrost miast wygrywa bitwę z policentryzmem. Niemniej jednak wśród metropolii panują dość rozbieżne wzorce, jako że większość metropolii monocentrycznych, takich jak Madryt czy Sewilla, staje się jeszcze bardziej monocentryczna za sprawą ekspansji swoich głównych centrów, natomiast większość metropolii policentrycznych, na przykład Barcelona i Walencja, staje się coraz bardziej policentryczna.

The promotion of polycentrism has become in a milestone in urban and regional planning policies, for that reason its study is fairly present contemporary research agendas. I n this paper we explore in which degree polycentrism has been reinforced in the main metropolitan areas in Spain in the course of the last 15 years. I n so doing, we use parametric models to analyse both the influence of subcentres on the distribution of population at different points of time, and analyse the changes on the population share of subcentres. R esults suggest that, in general, non central/subcentral territories are vigorously increasing their share on the population concentration, at the time that subcentres and their first belt do also increase their share but in a moderate way. I n general urban sprawl is gaining the battle to polycentrism. Nonetheless the patters among metropolises are quite divergent, since mostly monocentric metropolises, such a Madrid or Seville, are becoming more monocentrical due the expansion of their main centre, and mostly polycentric metropolises such a Barcelona and Valencia are becoming more polycentrical.
