Water resources are of a very special value since it is water that is the basis of all life and most of the processes on our planet. It is the crucial condition for the existence of life on the Earth. Therefore, the issue of rational policy of protecting water resources is the prerequisite of functioning and growth of any national economy. The policy should, first and foremost, aime at ensuring adequate amount of water ot appropriate quality. Switzerland is not suffering from the shortage of drinking water. Rational policy of water resources protection which has been in force for many years now allowed Switzerland to avoid water pollution. Effective policy protects the water resources against further deterioration of water quality. The author wants us to look at the experiences of Switzerland in water resources protection. There is a lesson to be learnt there, regardless of the differences in the level of economic development and the volume and quality of water resources. Swiss concept ox water resources protection is still worth noting due to its effectiveness.
