The Impact of the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Construction Parameters on Its Operating Properties

This paper presents the research results of the construction parameters impact on vertical axis wind turbine power and practical recommendations for the use of said turbines. A twostage transverse flow turbine, characterized by a multi-blade rotor surrounded by stator vanes was used as a base of the model. The turbine model was placed in the aerodynamic tunnel prepared for this purpose. Both the rotor blades and stator vanes angles were changed during the tests. As a result of the tests, their optimal positions, at which the turbine showed the maximum power obtained for the proposed power system were determined. In addition, the characteristics of the change in power output versus the air stream speed were determined.
