Abstrakty
A number of phosphors was obtained by doping Ca3Y2(Si3O9)2 and Y2Si2O7 silicate hosts with Eu3+ or Eu3+/ Tb3+ ions. Two methods of sample synthesis were applied: the sol-gel method and the combination of the combustion method and the sol-gel method. The samples were heated in the reducing atmosphere. The structural and morphological research was conducted with the use of powder diffraction (XRD) and electron microscopy (TEM). It was found out that the samples had the nanocrystalline structure and were single-phase. Ca3Y2(Si3O9)2 and Y2Si2O7 co-doped with Eu3+, Tb3+ display the broadband emission of the Eu2+ ions and the characteristic emission of Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions, the resultant colour of which for the appropriate ratio of concentrations is located in the white area of the colour chromaticity diagram. These phosphors are efficiently excited in the wavelength range of 300-420 nm, which perfectly match¬es a near UV-emitting InGaN chip. It was proved that Eu2+ ions can be stabilized in Y2Si2O7 host, thus silicates which do not contain 2+ cation can be considered as good hosts for phosphors based on Eu2+.
