The Suwałki Anorthosite Massif together with associating rapakivi-like granitoids belongs to the Masurian Complex. The depth of the top of the massif varies from about -600 m to -700 m. This massif is made up of anorthosites, norites, gabbronorites and dioritoids. The analysis of the structural and mineralogic features, as well as the rock sequence, indicates the complex structure and the polygenetic, metamorphic reomorphic origin of the massif. Gabbronorites and dioritoids were formed under granulite facies conditions and are older than anorthosites. The latter formed, in turn, as a result of alteration of older carbonate rocks, and subsequent reomorphic rocks. The tectonic processes set in motion and then uplifted these anorthosites as well as gabbronorites and dioritoids. The origin of norites is connected with the granitoid block of the Masovian Massif which was shifted from the southwest. Within a fissured and mylonitized zone, norites were formed as a result of crushing gabbronorites and anorthosites. The startup of ferrolite alloy brought about forming ore deposits.
