The Stralsund University of Applied Sciences started very early in promoting the renewable energy use. The historical tendency of the decarbonisation of fuels and other forms of energy and the idea of power to hydrogen (power to gas) including the further use of the gas in the sectors of electricity, traffic, and heat market as well meet each other on the way directed to an energy sustainability. A successful cooperation with the West Pomeranian University of Technology in this area is running since 1994.

Uniwersytet Techniczny w Stralsundzie bardzo wcześnie rozpoczął promocję stosowania odnawialnych źródeł energii. Historyczna tendencja dekarbonizacji paliw i innych postaci energii oraz idea: moc na wodór (moc na gaz) a także dalsze użycie gazu w takich sektorach jak: wytwarzanie energii, transport i rynek ciepła, jak również w innych znanych dziedzinach gospodarki ukierunkowanych na zrównoważoną energię. W tych obszarach, od 1994 roku, istnieje współpraca między Uniwersytetem Technicznym w Stralsundzie a Zachodniopomorskim Uniwersytetem Technologicznym w Szczecinie.
