The 5th Congress on Combustion Engines, organised by The Polish Society of Combustion Engines (PTNSS), the University of Bielsko-Biala and BOSMAL Automotive Research and Development Institute Ltd, took place from the 24th to the 26th of June, 2013. Part of the recent 5th PTNSS Congress on Combustion Engines was hosted by BOSMAL Automotive R&D Institute. The event hosted by BOSMAL on Wednesday 26th June 2013 took the format of an Industry Session, organised as an integral part of the congress, with the title ‘Powertrain Development for Low-to-Zero Emissions and Efficient Energy Usage’. The Industry Session featured a total of fourteen presentations, divided into three thematic parts (emissions legislation and test method development; development of powertrains and aftertreatment systems for low-to-zero emissions; engine fuel and oil development in the context of emission reduction efforts and vehicle performance requirements). This short commentary presents the aims and context of the Industry Session, some details on the nature of the event, the attendees and the presentations delivered. Some brief overall comments and conclusions are offered. Finally, references to materials on BOSMAL’s previous emissions-related events are listed and the technical program of the event is presented.

Piąty Międzynarodowy Kongres Silników Spalinowych, zorganizowany przez Polskie Towarzystwo Naukowe Silników Spalinowych, Akademię Techniczno-Humanistyczną w Bielsku-Białej oraz Instytut Badań i Rozwoju Motoryzacji BOSMAL odbył się w Bielsku-Białej w dniach 24-26 czerwca 2013 r. Częścią kongresu była także Sesja Przemysłowa pt. „Rozwój układów napędowych pojazdów w aspekcie niskoemisyjnego i wysokosprawnego wykorzystania energii”, która odbyła się w Instytucie Badań i Rozwoju Motoryzacji BOSMAL w ostatnim dniu kongresu. W ramach tej sesji przedstawiono 14 prezentacji, podzielonych na 3 bloki tematyczne: ustawodawstwo emisyjne i rozwój metod badań emisji, rozwój układów napędowych i układów oczyszczania spalin do pojazdów nisko- i bezemisyjnych oraz rozwój paliw i olejów silnikowych w kontekście wymaganych wysokich osiągów pojazdów i niskiej emisji spalin. W niniejszej relacji z Sesji Przemysłowej przedstawiono jej główne cele i założenia, wybrane informacje na temat przedstawionych prezentacji i uczestników sesji oraz jej podsumowanie. Zamieszczono także program Sesji Przemysłowej.
