Estimation of shear modulus (G0) in laboratory and in situ tests for Pliocene clays

Abstrakty
In recent years the investigations were carried out to obtaine the reliable stress-strain relationships in the cohesive soil, especially at the elastic range. The paper presents the advanced methods and devices using in measurement of shear waves velocity to estimate the shear modulus. A combination of field and laboratory tests was used to characterise the behaviour of a Pliocene overconsolidated clay. The soil shear modulus at very small strain range G(0) was estimated from both the SCPTU and the bender elements tests.
