A development of industry dealing with transport and storage of enormous quantities of dangerous materials (e.g. toxic) may cause intentional or unintentional release of these substances to environment. Thus, it is necessary to have specialist unit capable to take samples and identify contamination in case of emergency. The methods and analytical techniques are the key element in achieving high level of credibility of identification methods. The article presents conclusions and experience of chemical forces' specialists as to the possibilities of the implementation of contemporary methods of instrumental analysis in the process of operational identification of contamination.
