In the technology of preparing molten aluminium and its alloys the process of refining plays a very important part. In industrial practice they use for refining, alternatively, gaseous nitrogen, argon, chlorine or a mixture of these gases as well as the solid compounds of chlorine or nitrogen, which after immersing in liquid metal are decomposed with evolution of the bubbles of refining gas. The mechanism of hydrogen removal is an effect of the difference in partial pressure of hydrogen dissolved in metal bath (pH > O)and the partial pressure of hydrogen in the bubbles of refining gas. The removal of hydrogen from the metal bath is combined with the simultaneous removal of non-metallic inclusions by flotation. [...]
