W artykule omówiono koncepcję organizacji globalnego systemu przepływu dóbr nazwaną Fizycznym Internetem {Physical Internet - PI) przedstawioną pierwszy raz przez prof. Benoit Montreuil w 2006 roku. Fizyczny Internet zakłada wprowadzenie nowych zasad organizacji przewozów ładunków i zasad produkcji, a także sposobu pakowania i manipulacji ładunkami. Koncepcja oparta jest na rozwiązaniach podobnych do tych stosowanych w globalnej sieci internetowej. Podstawowym celem Fizycznego Internetu jest zwiększenie efektywności procesów logistycznych i wytwórczych, a także osiągnięcie pozytywnych efektów społecznych.

Paper discusses the concept of organization a global system of goods flow called Physical Internet - PI, presented for the first time by prof. Benoit Montreuil in 2006. Physical Internet assumes implementing new organization of cargo transportation and production, as well as methods of packaging and material flows handling. The concept is based on solutions similar to those used in the global Internet network. The primary purpose of the Physical Internet is to increase the efficiency of logistics processes and manufacturing, and gain some positive social effects.
