The article presents problems concerning the organisation and realisation of NBC defence endeavours in the USA ground troops on tactical and operational levels. In the introduction the author recollected the definition and endeavours of NBC defence and these endeavours management bodies (people in charge) on selective command levels. Further the NBC assets have been reviewed. A special attention has been drawn to the organisation of NBC defence units and subunits, data analysis centre and tasks performed by them. Also the basic equipment, necessary to perform these tasks has been characterised. The NBC defence preparation by commanders and people in charge of appropriate command levels and combat documents prepared by them have been discussed. The final issue touched on in the article is the realisation of NBC defence endeavours. There have been defined the warning and report system (NBC WRS) functioning and organisation, contamination recognition including contamination detection and monitoring and recognition of NBC weapons contamination areas and also the ways and principles of contamination elimination.
