The starting point of the article is the thesis, that strategy is a science - as a knowledge of a strategy theorist, and an art - as a practice of a strategist. On this background, the author presents the results of empirical studies on fundamentals of this specific sphere of human activity. Identified set of key factors, which allow to exercise the art of strategy - i.e. strategic culture, strategic thinking and acting - gave impulse to the presentation of considerations on definition of the strategic art, its key subject-matters and an area of interest.
