This article presents the results of a study aimed at answering the question, which was: How will the change of location of two fire and rescue units of the State Fire Service in Warsaw affect the number of buildings, the number of kilometres of roads and the area serviced, with an assumed probable time of arrival to the incident of the first forces and resources of the National Firefighting and Rescue System entities of up to 8 minutes? In order to answer the question thus posed, the research process used theoretical and empirical methods (case study). These methods are driven by the need to use engineering tools to assess the level of safety and combine safety engineering with safety sciences. The results confirmed that network analyses performed with the use of spatial information systems can be taken into account when assessing the impact of changing the deployment (location) of fire and rescue units, while they did not provide a clear answer as to whether a change of location shortens or lengthens the arrival time of the forces and resources of the State Fire Service to potential incidents.
