The task of this article is to show the importance and role of strategic management and strategic change in contemporary armed forces. Basing on the Polish Armed Forces, the basic problems of their restructuring taking place for many years in Poland have been described and assessed by some representatives of the Polish Armed Forces. The course of these changes is evaluated by some of them in a different, often critical way. Therefore it is essential to look for the reasons of this state of affairs. A question arises if this process can take place more effectively and faster. The method of analysis that the author applied and experts’ opinions create the possibility to learn standpoints of both famous as well as less known authors.
