W artykule zwrócona została uwaga na potrzebę modyfikacji tradycyjnych dworców kolejowych, wobec których stawiane są obecnie nowe wymagania i są szerzej postrzegane ich funkcje. Wskazane zostały zmiany w prowadzonej polityce rozwoju infrastruktury dworcowej ukierunkowane na traktowanie dworca kolejowego, jako przestrzeni multimodalnej dla wielu klientów (multi- client space), zapewniającej dostępność do różnych usług, nie tylko związanych z samą odprawą podróżnych. Wymaga to przeprowadzenia szeregu prac modernizacyjnych celem powiększenia istniejącej przestrzeni, niezbędnej dla zintegrowania z istniejącymi systemami obsługi nowych usługodawców i realizacji nowych usług. Ponadto, zwrócona została uwaga na to, że wpływ na zmiany modernizacyjne dworców kolejowych mają także względy techniczne związane z przystosowaniem kolei do dużych prędkości.

The article emphasizes the need to modify the traditional railway stations, which are now facing new demands and whose functions are currently seen in a wider perspective. The paper discusses the changes in the policy of train station infrastructure development that are aimed at treating the train station as the multimodal space for many customers (multi-client space)that ensures the availability of a variety of services, including ones not related to the clearance of travelers. This requires a number of modernization works to enlarge the existing space that is necessary to integrate new contractors with existing systems of servicing and the operation of new services. Also brought to the attention was the fact that technical reasons related to adaptation to high-speed rail have an impact on the modernization of railway stations.
