Published by CIGRE, the Technical Brochure (TB) No. 500 is focused on the issues which are the subject of interest of Study Committee C5 “Electricity Market and Regulations” and were analyzed in 2007-2011 by a team of 16 experts from 12 countries aided by 13 case studies. TB provides an overview of generation adequacy in market environment and presents the correlation between generation adequacy and the adopted market model. The analysis is supported by case studies of the electricity market models adopted by 12 countries and regions, including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, the Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Columbia, Portugal, the United Kingdom as well as the Ontario (Canada) and PJM (USA) systems.
