Obecna sieć metra ateńskiego składa się z 3 linii o sumarycznej długości 86,7 km: linii Czerwonej, Zielonej i Niebieskiej. Obowiązuje ruch prawostronny, a pociągi pobierają prąd z trzeciej szyny (górnej powierzchni) o napięciu 750 V DC i poruszają się po torze o rozstawie 1435 mm. Specyfiką metra jest fakt, iż jedna z linii (nr 3) biegnąca na lotnisko cywilne pod Atenami na pewnym odcinku (Doukissis Plakentias – Lotnisko Eleftherios Venizelos, 20,7 km) korzysta z infrastruktury kolejowej OSE. Zatem linia biegnie po powierzchni gruntu, a eksploatowany tabor wykorzystuje zasilanie napowietrzne (25 kV 50 Hz). Pociągi metra korzystające z ww. linii są dwusystemowe, a 4 stacje mają wspólną obsługę (metro i tabor OSE). Dziennie korzysta z przejazdów metrem 614 tys. pasażerów.

The current Athens metro network consists of 3 lines with a total length of 86.7 km: the Red, Green, and Blue lines. Right-hand traffic is applied, and trains draw power from the third rail (upper surface) at 750 V DC and move along a track with a gauge of 1435 mm. The metro's specificity is that one of the lines (No. 3) runs to the civil airport near Athens on a particular section (Doukissis Plakentias - Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, 20.7 km) and uses the OSE railway infrastructure. Thus, the line goes over the ground, and the rolling stock uses an overhead power supply (25 kV 50 Hz). In other words, metro trains using the lines mentioned above are dual-system, and four stations have combined service (metro and rolling stock OSE). Circa 614 thousand passengers use the subway every day.
