Ostatnie ćwierćwiecze przyniosło intensywny wzrost zainteresowania różnych ośrodków problemem kształtowania struktur tensegrity oraz ich charakterystycznymi własnościami, co dostarcza wciąż nowych tematów wymagających przeprowadzenia złożonych badań naukowych. Interdyscyplinarna tematyka badawcza tensegrity, czerpiąca z tak różnorodnych dziedzin jak: sztuka i projektowanie, budownictwo, matematyka i informatyka, obecnie wymaga naukowego opisu i popularyzacji.
