The question of producing high quality ingots from Cu-Ni alloys

Cu-Ni alloys are corrosion-resistant and are widely applied for making production of responsible use. Tubes, sheets, rods which have been made of are used in atomic boilers, shipbuilding, electrical engineering, and deferent heat-exchanges. Since Cu-Ni alloys have high melting temperature, conditions of falling off liquid phase boundary level bellow die are created during the semicontinuous casting. It usually lead to formation columnar structure and high probability of formation inner shrinkage cracks. In order to reduce probability of formation inner shrinkage cracks during the semicontinuous casting, influence of modifiers and different additions on reducing of grains in ingots have been studied. The results of the investigation have been put into technology improvement of existing engineering process.
