Multilobe journal bearings are applied in high speed and special rotating machinery. The bearing with 8-lobes is applied in the spindle bearings systems of grinding machines. Dynamic characteristics of such bearing allows the determination of the stability of operation, which is very important in the evaluation of bearing performances. On the basis of hydrodynamic theory of lubrication this paper presents the results of calculations of the dynamic characteristics of 8-lobe journal bearing.
