Problematyka celów funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa jest interesującym i ciągle aktualnym tematem rozważań naukowych Warto pamiętać o tym, że cele przedsiębiorstwa, podobnie jak inne kategorie zarządzania, mają charakter konwencjonalny i historyczny. Stawiając istotę funkcjonowania podmiotów gospodarczych w świetle wyznawanych wartości nie należy tracić perspektywy przedsiębiorstwa, któremu takie rozważania winny służyć.

The financial goals of Corporation are critically considered in the article. Widely accepted business goals, like maximisation of profitability, maximisation of the business value, as well as maximisation of flows in favour of capital owners, as the goals of Corporation seem to be not accepted any more. The main assumption of this classics economy approach to corporate goals, that only capital owners participate in business prosperity, is certainly false. Additionally, this historical concept is particularly unsatisfactory for management point of view. Therefore the theory of business goals can be treated as still actual and attractive theme of discussion. The Author concludes that identifying corporate goals is a form of compromise. In this unformal agreement, concerning corporate goals, there are expressed particular interests of dijferent social groups involved in the company operations. Not only shareholders, but as well managers, workers, customers, banks and authorities expressing public interests, would like to influence, share and finally accept the business goals. As a conseąuence of this wide compromise, the selected to realisation corporate goals are suboptimal usually. This foundation can be explained in a following way. Simply, particular interests expressed by the mentioned social groups use to be contradictory. Author intends to confirm the presented conclusion using some practical cases.
