The aim of the article is to point out the specifics caused by the way of realization of scientific and technological development in the food industry. The contribution deals with the consideration of specifying the challenges that the food industry is currently facing. It also points to the impact on food security in the Slovak Republic. The subject of the research was the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The strengths of this faculty are the great opportunity and space for the implementation of digital transformation in accordance with the Fourth Technology Revolution, and which will bring a number of new technological changes and knowledge.
