W artykule poddano analizie problemy transformacji społeczno-energetycznej w połączeniu ze zmianami klimatycznymi. W podsumowaniu stwierdzono, że współczesne społeczeństwo może zahamować współczesny kryzys ekologiczno-społeczny i energetyczny jedynie przez taką aktywność gospodarczą, gdy dokona się zasadnicza transformacja społecznych stosunków przyrodniczych, co doprowadzi do nowej epoki historycznej, którą określa się jako noosferę, a której istotą jest właśnie planetarna faza rozwoju ludzkości

The paper aims to present challenges of the socio-energetic transformation in view of the current energy and climate environment. These problems stem from economic and social globalization as the present growth strategy has been markedly compromised. The socio-ecological crisis which characterizes global society can be seen in terms of matter and energy metabolism as well as in terms of symbolic and physical take over of nature. The present rapid socio-ecological and energetic transformation brings about development of a new planetary phase of contemporary civilization. Nevertheless, human population has already come in the phase of rapid transformation into a planetary society proceeding to numerous scenarios of development as traditional worlds, barbarization or the great transformation. The crucial problems of transformation result from climate changes and difficulties in supplying sustainable energy. These problems of global economy and society exist in interrelated well-developed countries, new developing countries (namely, the so called BRICS: Brazil, Russia, India, China, or South Africa), and the poor ones. Present political conditions can vary as to future world development strategies. Nevertheless, provision of sustainable energy is a crucial issue. Cases of chaos generated by sudden energy shortages in contemporary industrial countries such as the USA confirm this.
