Artykuł przedstawia problematykę związaną z wejściem w życie Konwencji o kontroli i postępowaniu ze statkowymi wodami balastowymi i osadami (International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments – BWM Convention). Zawiera informacje z zakresu wymagań Konwencji w stosunku do statków, państw bandery i państw przybrzeżnych oraz przedstawia sposoby postępowania z wodami balastowymi.

This paper presents problems with implementation of International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM Convention). Contains information concerning of requirements of the Convention to ships, Flag States and Costal States, and presents way of proceedings with ballast water.
