Typically, the automation was mainly related with the technological process of making moulds, hence, the improved designs introduced earlier were known under the name of automatic moulding lines (AML). Yet, on those lines the operations of mould pouring, coring and knocking out of castings were not done in an automatic cycle. In the designs offered now, practically all the activities related with making a casting are fully automated; therefore it is fully justified to call the modern lines "automatic casting lines (ACL)".
