W 2008 roku opublikowany został przez Wspólny Komitet ds. Przewodników w Metrologii (JCGM) dokument „Evaluation of measurement data – Supplement 1 to the Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement – Propagation of distributions using a Monte Carlo method”. Autorzy dokumentu zalecają wykorzystanie metod numerycznych do: walidacji obliczeń niepewności pomiaru, obliczania niepewności pomiaru dla nowo tworzonych stanowisk pomiarowych, obliczania niepewności pomiaru dla skomplikowanych modeli matematycznych czy też modeli posiadających duże składowe niepewności lub asymetryczne funkcje gęstości prawdopodobieństwa. W Laboratorium Długości Zakładu Długości i Kąta opracowano program komputerowy do obliczania niepewności pomiaru metodą Monte Carlo. Przedstawiono praktyczne zastosowanie programu obliczeniowego.

In 2008, a new document „Evaluation of measurement data – Supplement 1 to the Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement – Propagation of distributions using a Monte Carlo method” was published by the Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology (JCGM). Authors of the new document propose using the Monte Carlo method for validation of the uncertainty calculation, calculation of uncertainty in new measurement set-ups, for complicated models or models with input quantities having “large” uncertainties or asymmetric probability density functions. Practical realization of the software created in the Length Section of the Length and Angle Division, which uses the Monte Carlo method for calculation of the uncertainty, has been presented.
