We analyze shapes of profiles of the diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) in the spectra of four targets where the strength ratios of the major DIBs (λλ 5780 Å and 5797 Å) are drastically different. Identification of the DIB carriers requires their precise zero radial velocity wavelengths as well as determination of their contours to be compared with their laboratory parameters. Also a division of the available DIBs into "families", proposed in 1987, seems to be of basic importance. High resolution and high S/N ratio echelle spectra of a few targets, apparently shining through single clouds, are compared. The high quality of the spectra allow us to divide strong and weak DIBs into "families", probably caused by the same carrier. Apparently the different spectra of DIB carriers in our objects follow the physical parameters of the intervening clouds. We have divided nine DIBs - two strong ones (5780 and 5797) - and several very weak ones into two "families" very likely caused by a single carrier each. We also demonstrated some variations in DIB profiles, caused by different physical parameters of the intervening clouds. DIB contours may change from one environment to another, apparently due to different physical parameters of the clouds. Such changes seem to follow the strength ratio of the major DIBs. Additional very high quality spectra are necessary to solve the 100 years old puzzle - identification of the carriers of DIBs.
