Zaprezentowane w artykule badania obejmowały analizy próbek węgla z kopalni „Sobieski”, rozdrobnionego do klasy ziarnowej 0,20-0,25 mm.

In the paper the results of the influence of moisture on the sorption properties of hard coal in relation to methane and carbon dioxide were presented. According to the literature, moisture present significantly reduces the sorption capacity of coal to gases, including to a greater extent CH4 than CO2. The research presented in the article included analyses of coal samples from the “Sobieski” mine, crushed to grain class 0.20-0.25 mm. The research was carried out under isothermal and isobaric conditions with the use of an original volumetric device – manometric sorption analyser. The results showed that moisture limits the sorption of coal to CH4 and CO2 to a similar degree. The greatest decrease in sorption capacity was recorded between dry samples and wet samples containing 2.8% moisture (for CH4 as adsorbate) and 2.5% (for CO2) respectively. With further saturation of the samples with water vapour, the recorded decrease in sorption capacity were at a lower level.
